UK-based firm G4S has won a controversial €10m ($12.9m) contract to provide bodyguards and building security services to the EU's delegations in Tripoli and Benghazi.

A trade conference to be held on 7-8 May in Benghazi has been postponed until June, according to an official from Libya's Ministry of Industry.

A meeting of the Tunisian Confederation of Citizen Enterprises (CONECT) called on Libyan companies to invest in Tunisia across areas including food, construction, furniture, pharmaceuticals, financial services, IT and telecommunications.

The German Manufacturing Technology Exhibition for Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, Water and Cement took place at the Rixos Hotel in Tripoli on 5-7 December, Al Shams reported.

A trade delegation from Taiwan visited Tripoli on 21 November to hold a series of meetings with Libyan business and government leaders, Al Jamahiriya reported.

The Libyan Defence, Security & Safety Exhibition (LIBDEX) was held on 8-11 November at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Libyan Businessmen Council signed an agreement on 10 August to establish a Libyan-Chinese Business Council, according to the Quryna newspaper.

The first US government-backed trade mission to Libya for 37 years took place in February. An improvement in diplomatic relations over the past years facilitated the visit from the US Commerce Department, together with company executives.
